In adobe animate there is the option to create a button if the type of animation you chose was Action Script 3.0. Here I will quickly explain how you can make a button that takes you to a second screen. I have not explained screens yet, they are like two different stages for actors, you can switch between them either by playing through one scene and then the next one coming on or by using buttons.
How to make a button
- Open a new animation in Action Script 3.0
- Create a drawing of some sort that you want to make into a button
- Select what is meant to be the button
- Click Modify
- Convert to Symbol
- Choose Button under Type
- Exit screen and click Insert
- Click on Screen
- Draw or write something onto the screen
- Go back to Scene 1
- Create a new Keyframe at about the 20th slot
- Right click on the Keyframe and select Action
- Write stop() into the screen that pops up
- Exit the screen
- Go back to Screen 2
- Create a Keyframe again about 20 slots in
- Right click on new Keyframe and click Action
- Write stop() into the pop up screen
- Exit the screen
- Go back to Screen 1
- Right click on the Keyframe furthest back
- Click Action again
- Click <> on the top right of the pop up screen
- In the new screen that pops up click Action Script
- Then click Timeline Navigation
- Select “Click to go to next Scene and Play”
- Exit all the screens
- Preview in Browser by clicking Control, Test Movie, In Browser
To make this easier I made a screen recording while doing this.
